About WeatherHand Farms CSACOMING SOON 2007 CSA INFORMATION Why Join? The most obvious reason is to get the freshest, highest quality produce possible each week. To reward you for believing in us months before you get any vegetables we promise you the pick of the crop. We will harvest your veggies as fresh as possible (usually the same day) and give you only the best of what we harvest. As a member of our CSA you will receive items that we may not offer our regular farmers market customers. For example 2005 was our first year to raise shiitake mushrooms and our CSA members got most of them. You would not have to get up as early to make it to farmer's market because your fresh veggies would be there waiting on you when you arrive. Supporting a small local farm helps keep us alive and you get to know who is growing your food and how they are doing it. Your produce is also thousands of miles fresher. When you shop at supermarkets the produce there is at least 7 to 14 days old and is shipped from across country or over seas. When you support a locally owned business, 60% of the money spent continues to circulate within the community. When you support a chain store or franchise only 20% stays in the community mostly in the form of low paying jobs.
Delivery Schedule? We will deliver the CSA shares on Saturdays at the Greensboro Farmer's Curb Market on the corner of Lindsay and Yanceyville streets at table 125 & 126 between the hours of 7 am til 12 noon. We also deliver to the Durham Farmer's Market located in the 400 block of Morris street downtown Durham on Saturdays between the hours of 8am and 12 noon. We have a Winston-Salem delivery during the week where we deliver right to your door. That will be either Wednesday or Thursday afternoon between the hours of 6:00 and 7:30 pm. There is an extra charge for delivery in the Winston-Salem area of $50.00 per member per year. You can also pick up at the farm on Thursday afternoons. You would need to call the farm ahead at 336-685-4800 or email us at weatherhand@bellsouth.net so that we would have your CSA share ready.
