Weatherhand Farm

About WeatherHand Farm

Posted in Unspecified

WeatherHand Farm is located in northern Randolph County. It is run by Sharon Weatherly and John Handler on land that has been in Sharon's family for three generations. We grow a wide variety of vegetables and cut flowers. We also have free range pasture raised chickens for meat and eggs. Everything we grow or raise is done naturally, without any chemicals, herbicides or pesticides.

We have cut flowers available from April through October when nature permits. Most of our flowers are field grown and are at the mercy of mother nature. We sell arrangements and by the bunch. Lilies, tulips, sunflowers, gladiolas, are just a few of the flowers we grow. Keep us in mind when planning your next event. You may pick them up at the farm or the farmers market. We can also deliver a minimum amount within a limited area. You may call us for details.

We grow a wide variety of vegetables that are available from March through December. The list changes a little each year as we are always trying new varieties. We grow all of our own transplants. This allows us to grow unusual and heirloom varieties that aren't available through conventional sources. We also sell these transplants at farmers markets and at the farm. So always be checking with us for unusual things.

We also raise true free range pastured chickens for the production of both meat and eggs. They are raised in moveable pens and fencing that we move daily. This gives the chickens fresh grass and insects each day. This also replenishes nutrients in our fileds with the chickens natural fertilizer. Our chickens are fed a diet of natural grains without antibiotics or medications. We also do not cut off their beaks as they do in conventional production. Our chickens live the way nature intended for chickens to live. This makes healthier, happier chickens and better tasting meat and eggs. Try one of our fresh young chickens available May through October. The taste and texture of the meat is unlike any supermarket chicken. We usually sell out early so we encourage you to pre order.

We sell on Saturdays at the Greensboro Farmer's Curb market located at the corner of Lindsay and Yanceyville streets. We are located at table 125 & 126. We're also at the Durham downtown market in Durham NC, located at the 400 block of Morris street on Saturdays from 8:00 am til noon. We also sell directly from the farm and through a CSA. Stop by and see us. We look forward to seeing you and we appreciate your support.
