Mission Statement:

Produced in Greensboro, North Carolina, EpiCourier Online Food & Health Magazine's mission is to be an informative source on food, nutrition and agriculture locally as well as globally.

Vision Statement:
It is EpiCourier's vision to have every farmer, chef, homemaker, or food enthusiast using a weblog so that they can effectively communicate with the world on the importance of growing, cooking and the passion of food.

The mission statement for EpiCourier was created in 2001and to be honest I had planned to do it ALL.  But with age, a growing family, and a better understanding of time, I have come to the realization that you can't do it all.  Though I have worked in the food industry most of my life, I am not a farmer, I am not a  nutritionist, and I know nothing about french cuisine.  That is why I am launching the EpiCourier Network.  The EpiCourier Network will consist of voices from right here in the triad, across the state and across the world via the web log.

What is a Weblog aka Blog?

A weblog or "blog" is a web site that contains information called posts that are arranged in reverse chronological order. A weblog can contain a wide variety of content including written essays, annotated links, documents, graphics, and multimedia.
Weblogs are as easy to use as typing emails!  To maintain a weblog you do not need to know HTML code, though if you do it can be incorporated to your site.  Weblogs give users the ability to communicate effectively with their audiance without having a technological background as the traditional static websites needed.

How it can work for you...

  1. Farmers can give easily updated information from the field such as what's in season, what they are selling and where.  They can also keep readers updated on the local growing conditions during a drought or too much rain.  And who better knows how to prepare and preserve the food their growing?   It is my hope that our farmers can encourage a younger generation to look at farming as a viable and rewarding job.
  2. Local chefs and entrepreneurs can give easily updated information from the kitchen such as what's on their menu, special events, and essentially create their own marketing department.
  3. Homemakers and food enthusiast can share their passion with the world.  They can give easily updated information on what's going on around their own kitchen table, within the community as well as when traveling.
  4. Organizations that are feeding the hungry can also take advantage of the current weblog technology.  Make a call for volunteers, food drives, important dates...the possibilities are endless!

So basically, if you love to eat, if you love to grow, if you love to share....sign up today!  It's FREE!

For the past three and a half years EpiCourier has been supported by a very dedicated group of people working with weblog technology.  Not only can they assist with any questions you might have, they are constantly researching and improving on the tools now available.
