This year the Greensboro Farmers’ Curb Market on Yanceyville Street will be hosting the 4th Annual Farmers Appreciation Day to be held on Saturday September 10, 2005. Though many of us celebrate Farmers Appreciation Day everyday, this day is set aside to let our local farmers know how much we really care about what they do for our families, our community and our world. On this day we provide our farmers with a complimentary breakfast of locally grown foods and gifts from local merchants. Held outside on the lawn, market patrons can enjoy breakfast, listen to local musicians while organizations that support our local agriculture are set up and eager to talk about preserving and promoting our agricultural heritage.
We are proud to be serving Neese’s Country Sausage, Grits from the Old Mill of Guilford, and biscuits by Simple Kneads Bakery. These businesses have contributed every year and without them Farmers Appreciation Day would not have been a success.
I would also like to thank Phillips Brothers Country Ham for donating their award winning country ham to our menu this year. And I am very excited to announce that Alex Amorosa of Cheescakes by Alex has agreed to prepare this years breakfast. Alex is a true supporter of our market and uses local products in his own business. This year you can really taste the triad with the addition of homemade sausage gravy, red-eye gravy and a very special potatoe recipe of Alex’s that is out of this world.
