RECENT POSTSBack Woods Family Farm is a small sustainable family farm located in Sophia in Randolph County N.C. We are Wesley and Claudia Petersonand we have three children Angela, Christi, and Jason.We have been farming fulltime since 2002. We specialize in chemical and antibiotic free grass fed poultry for meat and eggs and pastured raised pork. We also grow some seasonal vegetables.
All our animals are raised without the use of any chemicals, antibiotics, hormones, or animal by-products. We grow all our feed for the animals with organic methods and mix the feed ourselves. This ensures we know what goes into our animals.Our grass fed meat chickens are grown on pasture in movable pens. They are fed a supplement of grains we grow. This produces the cleanest, safest, best tasting meat you can get.
Our layers are raised in fixed houses where the doors are opened every day so they can free range all over the farm. They are fed a supplement of grain grown by us. This produces eggs
high in omega 3 and omega 6.
Our pigs are grown in fenced wooded lots where they have plenty of room to root and forage. They are fed a diet of corn and organic vegetables grown by us.This produces pork with rich color and flavor that has no chemicals or medications in it.
