Well fall is finally starting to come to the farm.  You can see signs starting to show, a faint hint of color in the trees, alittle coolness in the night air.  We get to see other signs like the littles pigs we got in April, they are big and fat now from all the summer vegetables.  The little baby chicks that you could hold in your hand in the spring, they are starting to lay their eggs.  It's always reviving to see the seasons begin to change.  The first signs of fall always get me in the mood to get ready for winter.  It's time to harvest the field corn that will feed the animals through the winter.  We also bring int he pumpkins to feed.  It won't be long and it will be time to bring in the root crops which will also be feed for the animals for the winter.

Our daughter Christi (16) and our son Jason (10) are not new to farming, they have worked right beside us since we moved here five years ago.  they decided they wanted to own something of their own, take care of it and try to make a profit.  So they went in together and bought 25 laying hens of their own.  They were so proud when the firs small pullet eggs began to arrive last week.  I told them they were real farmers now.  Soon we will have some of their eggs at the market.
